Table mat

 Today I used skimming and scanning to record the idea's on a task which is called table mat information.

First, me and my group readed a book called New Zealand Filmmakers. It is about New Zealand Filmmakers and what movies have they created. So we used skimming and scanning on the fiction and non fiction books.  Skimming is kind of like an airplane. me and my group were reading down the page looking for keywords. Scanning is kind of like an helicoptor or a airplane, you can stop and hover by focusing on the piece of text.  

Next, we did the table mat activity. We had to find keywords and define 1 of them. we then switched chrome books with eachother and checked our work.

Finally me and my group did the what I would ask and the key questions. Key questions are like questions that author thought about before writing the book. 

me and my group enjoyed this activty because we used skimming and scaning to find imformation about a person I have never heard about.

Party Popper

My Gorup and I designed a party popper.


First I used all the parts which is I had to make a party popper, it ended very well when I put more details about the party popper.




Next I put all the parts of the party popper all together.


I used all the parts which are rubber band, string, paper cup, tooth pick, filling, and the nut and bolt for it together so it could make a party popper. really good cause of the part where i put all the parts together


To finish up, when I was done putting the parts all together to make a party popper, I had to take a picture of it when I was done.


For example, I used a camera to take a picture of it to put on my blog. It ended brilliantly and amazingly.


I learned a lot about how happy I was when I took a picture of the party popper so I could put it on my blog. I liked it when I put more information about the party popper and the parts i would do better on my party popper and the parts so i could tell more information about the party popper and the parts.

HPE

 Today me and Group A were working on a HPE activity.

First me and Group A were doing a activity called "Technique, and Balanced position", which Balanced position was like a person throwing something for you to get it, and Technique was like we had to focus on our balance.

Next we needed to go on our second activity called "Chase Frisbee", it was like you being a dog while the person throws the frisbee so you can catch it.

Then we needed to do our third activity called "Catching on the run", it was like a person throwing the frisbee at you until you get it, which means when you catch it you dont need to move or take a step.

After that we needed to do our fourth activity called "Catch the target" (I guessed the name), its like we had to make lines to going separted to get in lines, so then when the person with the frisbee throwed it we had to catch it on the spot that you landed so you can throw it into the right target.

Finally we needed to do our fifth activity called "Ultimate Frisbee", its like we needed to get chosen into 2 groups called "Non Bib Team" and "Bib Team" which then you need to have two frisbee's each other team so then the 2 teams can try and score for at the other score for the person's team.

Maori

 Today me, Group A, and Whaea Odie were working on a maori learning activity.

First we needed to go on a LS1 site, then go on the maori times table to for us to get on the updated document to make a copy of it.

Next we needed to investigate what are the maori words mean, which they mean names, the names are "Dorothy, Caroline, Jacob, Elizabeth, Nicholas," and in Maori they are "Tarati, Kararaina, Hakopa, Irihapeti, and Nikora.

Then we needed to put them in place for what the maori names actually are, which we put them into a 15x15 columns.

After that we needed to make our own names with the names and the maori names, which my ones were "Abraham Nicholas, Jane Jim, which in Maori are

Finally we needed to change our names from english to maori which Whae Odie says that "S,Z,J -= H, V = W, L = R"so then my name says "Hemi".

Basic Facts Boxes

 Today is the day I have finally got my high score timers on my homework called "Basic Facts Boxes".

First is that I went to find a slide for my basic facts boxes to work, then when I was done searching for a slide I had to do a challenge from my teacher, then I had to take a picture of it when I was done.

Next is that I had to set a timer on the mode called stop watch for the basic facts boxes.

Then I had to text in the text box that I was thinking that I could do better than what I've done.

After when I was done texting on the slide I was uploading the picture from the basic facts boxes challenge.

Finally when I was done I was actually very shocked cause I was done in 1m and 47s.

SSR Selfie

 Today I have been reading my books for my homework which is "SSR Selfie".

First is that I had to find a book, and a slide that is on my computer which i could find it on the LS1 site.

Next is that I had to text in the text box of what was the illustrator.

Then I texted in the other text box of what was the main character.

After that i had to make a recount about my book and list three interesting words and, type the meaning.

Finally when I was done I had to take a picture with the book so the audience's like you can know that it's me that made the SSR Selfie.

Party Popper Redisgn Plan Blog

 Today me and my group have worked on our first design company.

First we made a google spread sheet.

Next we put our parts, current design, upload design option, and our rational.

Then we put the changes of our parts into the upload design row.

After that we needed to type about what are the parts for, and the upload design option is for putting the items inside of the upload design option row.

Finally I was on the Rational row (Rational means whats the reason about it), so than I putted the reasons of why we used the paper, stick, cup, filling, and the ruberband.

What is a summary

What is a summary, for me, I think a summary is a brief statment of the main points of something.
 And I think a short explaination of the main points something.  

HPE

 Today me and Group A were working on a equipment for balance.

First I needed to go and get a tennis racket and a tennis ball which is a HPE equipment.

Next is that we were working on holding the tennis ball with the tennis racket while not to move it.

Then I needed to bounce the tennis ball with the tennis racket without going to move your legs, and then my teacher said to get a partner so I could get use to this with someone that is a expert.

`After when I were done with the bounce activity, my teacher said to get a partner with one tennis ball and the other person has to have one tennis racket, so then me and my partner needed to go back from each other.

Finally when I was doing my two last activitys, I needed to go and bounce the ball to my partner so he could hit the tennis ball with a tennis racket until we swap positions,

the second activity was difficult because we needed to go in a line so we can hit the the ball because my volunteer which is joe needed to throw it while I hit it everytime when its my turn.

Maori

 Today I worked on a maori learning with "Whae Odie".

First Whae Odie told us that I needed to go on the moari section and make a copy of it and to put it on the literacy folder.

Next I needed to translate what the maori words mean in maori because I used "Maori dictionary".

Then Whae Odie said that I needed to scroll to see the word called "matau" and "maui", which means left and right.

After that Whae Odie told me to scroll down and translate the words called "aporo, peke, panana, pouaka makariri, karaka, papa kai, ropere, mahi mara, pea, rakua whai hua, mereni, pureti, matira, pena, heihei, oumu, retihi, and kumete.

Finally when I was finally done translating all those maori words, Whae Odie told the people that are done to scroll and press on the link when we are waiting.

Cause and Effect / How popcorn pops

 Today is the day that I finally get to blog.

(Instructions that I have been told)

First is that we had to make a copy of the document that my teacher made in his own LS1 slide.

Next is that he made a lot of text books to put my title, my 3 mechimisims, my images, and my summary in it.

Then when  I was done i nearly forgot to type in my introduction to explain how popcorn pops inside the corn.

After that when I was done with my 3 mechmisims, the title, the introduction, my images, and my last thing is the summary.

Finally when I was completed on doing my title, my introduction, my 3 mechimisims, my images, and my summary, I showed my copy of his document, suddenly he said to blog, I was surprised cause I just came to show it to him for the first time.

HPE/Balancing

 Today we were doing another HPE activity.

First is that I had to make a google drawing to put our first main idea about balancing.

Next is that I had to put some information first to make a google document.

So then I was done, we had to show it to our teacher so we could use the equipment which is a milk bottle and we had to use a phone so we can upload it on the LS1 media.

Then we were on our final task, we had to do the balance challenge while someone is taking a picture of me.

After that I uploaded it into the LS1 media, so then I went back to my chromebook to put the picture of me doing my own balance challenge into my google drawing.

Finally I showed my google drawing and my google document until he said to blog it

Movement

Maori

Today I have done Maori learning with Whae Odie.

First is that we had to go on our LS1 website just to press a link into going into the right document, which we had to make a copy of it.

Next is that there were maori words that include a picture while figuring out whats it for, the picture was with a lot of objects.

Then Whae Odie we learnt how to say "bellow, between, left, and right".

After that we were told that when we were done with the maori learning we could help the other people or just playing simon says.

Finally when we were done we had to memorize the words in maori which was "Below, between, right, and left.


HPE and Balancing

Today I learnt how to balance with equipment.

I started at the tennis station, it was hard cause we had to balance with one leg while hitting the ball with the tennis racket.


Next is that we had to go to the second station which was the spoon and egg, it was kind of hard on putting our leg into straighting it up while putting the egg and spoon down to a lower level.




Then we hads to go to our third station which is the hokey sticks with the balls, it was hard cause every time we switched to the person who rolls the ball or the person who hits the ball with the hokey sticks.


After that we went to go on the fourth station which was the "Soccer ball", it was really hard cause we had to put it on our fore head.

 


Finally is that we had to go to our fifth station which was the volly ball, it was kind of easy cause we had to set the ball to the other person to dig it to you.


I am really happy that I know how to balance while holding objects/equipment.

Calendars

Calendars shows us the day, week or month.

There are 12 moths in the year, they are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.

Months have 28, 30 or 31 days. 

There are number patterns on the calendar by looking for four connecting days for example 20, 60 and 100.





HPE

 Today Group A have worked on our balancing.

First is that we learnt what we had to do which is that we needed to go into group of 4/5 people just to use two of the HPE equipment. ("The equipment was the frisbee, rugby balls, basketballs, hokey sticks and balls, and a bounce ball")

Next is that we had to balance with one foot while we were throwing the ball which is the equipment to each other.

Then after each and every 5 minutes we have to go to every station to use every equipment.

After when we were nearly done which it took 20 minutes we had been told from our teacher to make a blog about the reveal,event, make a recount.

Finally when we were done with every station we were swapped with Group B while we had to do our work.






Maori

 Today me and Whae Odie have worked on a google drawing.

First is that we had been told of what we had to do, which is that we needed to use our chromebook to make a google drawing and go on our LS1 site to go on our maori learning.

Next is that we have been reminded that we can use the moari dictionary for the maori learning.

Then we had to make our own google drawing and we had to use images of a fridge, oven, cereal, pot, microwave, sink, plate, knife, fork, and spoon which was really hard cause i needed to use a title too.

After that is that we have been reminded again which was that we had to been in groups of learning on how to speak in maori, which is that we had to speak maori and we saw that Whae Odie passed us some pictures.

Finally is that we were done but now we had to blog it.

Problem Solving

 Today me and my teacher's class has worked on a document called "Problem Solving".

First is that our teacher told us what number we are, which I was number 4. And we had to get a white board, marker, and a chromebook

Next is that we were done finding our groups ("our members of the group was Xavier, Ahli, Bella, and Mellisa") until we had to read 6 long sentence's to just understand.("The sentence's were including everyone to found out what the answers were").

Then when we were trying to find out what the answers were, I was actually surprised that our group answerd 5/6 of the sentence's.

After that we were on the last sentence, but I was kind of shy for us to answer.

Finally we actually answerd until we actually got the sentence right.

Reflection: I AM SO SO HAPPY THAT WE HAVE DONE EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE DONE.

Analog Clock


 Today I have worked on apart of my work called "Analog Clock".

First is that my teacher made a document for me and the class to make a copy on it for us.

Next is that we had to use the analog clock and take a screenshot on it to put in the text box. ("Sorry that there is 5/6 different clock")

Then I typed in the other text boxes with the pictures to tell how many minutes they're is.

After that I needed to use a website because I was at my house cause i had no time but at lease i finished the document.

Finally that i was done with the document called Analog Clock.

Reflection: I AM THE HAPPEIST PERSON IN THE WORLD.

The three simple machines

 There are three similar simple machines. They are the lever, the inclined plane, and the wedge.

First is that I have been working on three documents for the three simple machines.

Next when I was started on my three document, and i even used the pictures from the LS1 media.

Then when I was workng on the three documents I was kind of struggling cause of the typing.

After when I was nearly done I was kind of tired that i had to put all the information for the three simple machines.

Finally when I was done i had to blog it for the three similar simple machines.

Block twister

 Today me and my teacher's class was playing a activity which is called block twister and its about HPE.

First we had to be a semi circle for us to play.

Next our teacher showed us a example of how to play with two men's.

Then when they were done we started on playing for real. It was very funny that i felt like i was gonna fall.

After that it probably took me 30 minutes to keep my balance still.

Finally we had to finally do a blog about the activity called block twister.

Reflection: That was so fun that it felt like it took the game probably 50/30 minutes for the game to end.

Keywords

 Today i learnt what keywords are.

First is that keywords have a secret meaning.

Next is that the keyword you have could be interseting.

Then my teacher told us that he made a document about keywords and then put a link in it.

After that i was already half done on my work, but there was one thing, it was that people like me were struggling at the start of the document.

Finally when i was done our teacher even did 4/5 lnks on his document which one of the links were called practice, explain which was very interesting about that.

Reflection: I was VERY happy that i have showed it to everyone in my group.

Cause and Effects

 Today we learned what a cause and effects are.

A effect means what happened.

A cause means the reason why it happened.

First is that I our teacher tokd us to go on his documant that he made.

Next is that there was pictures in large sqaures, and there was empty sqaures for me to put the pictures in it and make a sentence in the little box so, and there was a big box below the little box so when im done on making the sentence's i could make a big senctence including what are in the pictures.

Then when I was half done our teacher reminded us that he putted some links in the documant to practice.

After that I was nearly done on the pictures,sentences and boxes until i was thinking if i could practice after when I was done on the documant.

Finally I was done on the documant from an hour, then i went to practice before i had to do the blog.

Reflection: I am so happy that I think im a amazing boy.


Prediction

 I learned that predicting means guessing of what happened in a book, in the world, in the future, or in the past. 

First we were predicting about a book called winter sports, it was about ice skating, skiing, snow fighting, and ice hokey. 

The next different thing about this is that we had to predict which is that we had to think of what the people were doing in the book.

Then we had to make a blog about prediction, so then we had to make a title, events, and a reflection.

 Finally when i was done i was thinking about what i have done, im thinking that i have done amazing work.

Reflection: I was so happy that i have learnt what predicting is.

Te reo maori

I learnt how to say hoatu te ki te taha maui

From last week Whaea Odie taught us tenei, tena and tera.

The new sentence we learned was hoatu te ... ki te taha maui. For example hoatu te ..pene (pen) ki te taha maui.

I was really proud of myself on how to learn on how to speak in maori.

AFL Training Week 2


 Group A  did skills from Coach Becs.

The first skill we did was shown how to do handball (hit the ball). We had to put your dominant hand into a fist and the other hand into a dinner plate. We had to hit the ball at the X from the dinner plate. We hit the ball to our partners.

The second skill was how to do a drop pot (kick). We had to face the lace from your face and the two X's to face the sky and the ground then we have to make an M on the ball. We kicked the ball to our partners.

Next, we used the handball skill to play octopus. We had fun playing octopus but it was tiring.

Then we played kick the ball with our teachers and the coach. We missed the teachers and the coach but I decided to join the teachers and the coach. Group B tried their best to hit us but they only got Mr. Ogilive two times.

I had fun playing AFL (Australian Football League) I want to play this again, I really need to practice handball and drop pot

SSR Selfie

 Today I did a document on my learning. My teacher said I could blog about my SSR Selfie to show how good my reading is. I was reading a book called Ninja kids 5. It was really interesting that I liked it when I read it. This is a picture of me with my book that I like to read. The names of the characters in the book are Nelson Kane, mum, grandma, and cousin Kenny. The three interesting words that I chose from the book are hardcore, obstacle, and course. 






Marc Duffy

 Today, I went to an assembly.

The assembly was with special guests and was about reading.

The two guests was Marc and a girl.

 Marc is a role model and he is really in reading and writing.

 Marc told us a story about a boy named frank.

 Frank had a hard life at school. He got bullied many times at school.

 So then Frank's mom talked about it with the principal.

 After the talk about the bully's his mom told frank that he will go to another school cause the principal was talking to the bully's parents so then,he got bullied again until his mom took him to other schools cause of the bully's at the school's that frank's mom brang him to.

Then after months later he got arrested into prison but suddendly he learnt how to read in prison,and he got a certificate from his old school when he was a kid so then his life went a little bit better when he's in prison before he was at school,when he was a kid his life was terrible,now when hes in prison he would actually remember who he is when he grows up.

Basic Facts Boxes

 Today I did basic facts for my learning so then my teacher was thinking that I could blog so then I did. It was a great idea cause of my maths and my strategy. It makes your maths better and your strategy better. So today I got 100/100 on my basic facts boxes so I was thinking that I could go on an extremely harder level so then I hope I get better on any harder level.



Teamwork

Communication is when people share information with each other. In dodgeball, an example of communication is talking to your teammates about different moves. 

Cooperation is when a group works hard to achieve their goal. Cooperation means that someone wants to achieve their first goal in a dodge ball game.

Collaboration is when a group works really hard for your family or something to earn what they really wanted. Collaboration means when a group is working really hard to achieve a trophy in a dodge ball game.

To be successful as a team all three mechanisms need to be implemented throughout the activity.


Making Connection

Making connections when a reading helps us understand what we are reading. There are three different types of connections. They are text to self, text to text, and text to world.

Text to text is talking about something that links to yourself. For example, The duck shared food with the villagers. The duck did the right thing as it was the villagers’ food. My connection is: I have food that I share with my neighbour's It connects because they both use food and interesting characters that use items.

Text to text is talking about something that links to another text in a book. For example, The duck told the highway rat to think there was food at the top of an echoey cave. The duck was trying to not get eaten by the rat. My connection is that the rat wants all the treats from the duck's sister. It connects because they both use deception.

Text to the world is talking about something that connects to the real world. For example, The duck tried to defend herself from the rat. The duck tried to take her cupcake back from the rat. My connection is sometimes I cry cause I never see my treats again but sometimes I'm just too smart and clever to unsmart them into getting my treats back. It connects because they both use fearlessness. Fearless means you not scared of anyone or anything.

Fact or Opinion / The Duck

I did a task about a duck in a story called The Highway Rat. 

First I watched a movie to know what the story is about. 

Next, I needed to write some facts about what happened in the story.

Then I wrote the opinions of how the duck thought in the story of what happened in the story.

After that, we needed to write 5 big words like respectful,expert,kind,intelligence,generous to describe the character traits from our opinions.

Finally that I was done doing my fact or opinion task, I was thinking that it was easy for me.




Multiplication and Times Table

Me and my group were doing multiplication and times tables

 Multiplication is a faster way of adding the same numbers many times. 

I've learned many other equations like 7x5 means, 7 groups of 5 things, 4x5 means 4 groups of 5 things and 11x2 means 11groups of 2 things.

It is a better way and a faster way of using multiplication than addition.

Visualisation - Highway Rat


Visualization is creating pictures in your

head. This helps us understand what we read.

Highway Rat is about a Rat who is greedy and

Steals everyone's food. He learns a lesson and everyone lives happily.

My visualization is different from others because it would be interesting for people.

We have different Visualisation because it is very bad to not copy other's drawings or writings.












Place Value & Saying Numbers

Place value is a system that groups numbers based on their size.

The position of a digit determines its value. When we say numbers we group them within the same base. For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds, & nine ones.

Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronounce big numbers correctly. It also allows us to identify numbers before and after.

Mihi Whakatau

 Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting. 

Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for a welcoming, introductions, and openings. It is undertaken by the Tangata Whenua (local inhabitants)

The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects of the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and Iwi (tribe) are generally used. 

Introducing Ingoa (name), Oku Tipuna (ancestral place), and where you live is important for the audience to understand the positions of the Speaker. 

Manuhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

Being respectful of the land, the people, and the purpose of a visit will ensure long-lasting relationships and connections.
